The Liturgy Team is responsible for planning the para-liturgical and liturgical services of the Parish. In addition, they concern themselves with the environment of the Cathedral and Chapel for worship. They oversee the worship aides and coordinate with the Liturgical Ministers and the Minister of Music. They also decorate the Cathedral/Chapel for Christmas and Easter. This team also seeks to provide/assist with programs that deepen the Spiritual Life of the parishioners, e.g., retreats, missions, days of recollection, parish devotions (Holy Hours, Liturgy of the Hours), and keeps people informed about the ministries within the church and/or throughout the diocese.
The Education Team is concerned with all areas of parish education: Nativity B.V.M. Elementary School; Pre-School, Elementary, and High School Religious Education Programs, R.C.I.A., Adult Education, Marriage Preparation, Outreach Groups, and Youth Ministry. Members of the committee provide input and assistance in planning for and initiating programs that touch all segments of the parish family.
Our CCD program supports the youth in public schools in grades kindergarten through 5th grade. Nativity parish serves as the lead parish and services the children at Nativity, Our Mother of Sorrows, Blessed Seelos, and St Michael's parishes. Our God given mission is to help children to know, love, serve, and witness our faith. We work to support our multi-parish families by creating an environment that welcomes and promotes catechesis. Please contact me for more information.
Vacation Bible School/VBS is a week long morning camp for elementary aged children. This event is hand written to help express our Catholic faith in a way young children can understand and enjoy. We have many activities throughout the week such as guest speakers, morning mass, adoration, dance classes, and field trips to the farmer's market festival and visits to other east Biloxi churches. VBS is for all ages to either participate in or volunteer.
Nativity B.V.M. Youth Ministry is a vibrant, active ministry in our parish. The team meets on Sunday evenings following the 5:30 p.m. Mass. If you are interested in lectoring, ushering, or bearing gifts at one of our youth masses, please contact one of your youth leaders. We need your help! Please come be a part of YOUR Youth Ministry!
This team promotes outreach and hospitality to all members of the parish as well as all visitors who come to see us. They plan and execute Parish society gatherings, e.g., receptions, celebrations, and our parish picnic. They extend care to shut-ins and also ensure that families of deceased parishioners are given hospitality.
Our talented Cathedral choir sings weekly and at Diocesan-sponsored Masses. The choir practices on Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m. in the Sacred Heart Parish Life Center. The choir does not practice or sing during the summer months.

These young members of our Parish assist the Celebrant during weekly Mass and other Liturgical celebrations.
The mission of the usher at Nativity B.V.M. is that of hospitality. This service helps parishioners and guests feel welcome and comforable as we gather for our Eucharistic celebration.
Scheduled Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist assist the Celebrant in distributing Holy Communion during weekly Mass and other Liturgical celebrations. They also bring the Eucharist to hospitalized and homebound parishioners as needed.
Scheduled lectors read the announcements prior to the start of Mass and proclaim the first and second readings. The Lector also reads the Responsorial Psalm if it is not sung, and if no deacon is present, reads the Prayers of the Faithful.
This area of our faith community raises our awareness that all people are not treated or live equally. Through living out our faith, we can make a difference. This team assists with Loaves and Fishes, Disaster Relief, and Ecumenical Services. The monthly food drive and the St. Vincent de Paul Society are a part of this team.
The St. Vincent dePaul team meets weekly. Food distribution and financial assistance is provided each Tuesday from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Center.
The Finance Team monitors the financial needs of our parish, the parish budget, and maintains and plans for the future of our parish buildings and property.
The Nativity Cathedral Altar Society is a group of women from the Parish who offer their dedicated service to the Cathedral. Through combined efforts, they assist the Pastor in maintaining the Altar, Sanctuary, and Sacristy. This includes cleaning and setting of the Altar for services, caring for the vestments, altar cloths, sacred vessels, etc.
