Catholic Church will present its annual “All Souls Concert” on All Souls Day
– Saturday – November 2nd at 3 pm. This concert event remembers loved ones
that have passed and seeks to make their memory a blessing to the future
generations. The concert-service features music of remembrance including
“Requiem” by the 21st century composer – Heather Sorenson. The program
will be shared by the Massed Choral Societies of Gloria In Excelsis of the
Cathedral and Mobile, Alabama’s Mobile Vocal Arts. The program is free

The Music & Fine Arts Ministry of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Cathedral announces their annual “Patriotic Concert & Mass” for 2024. This year’s Concert will be presented in the Cathedral at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 29th and will feature music of Nostalgia and Patriotism in celebration of our national Independence Day and in “Thanksgiving” for our Veterans. Additionally, a special Master Work – Randall Thompson’s “Testament of Freedom” will be featured. This composition is a musical setting of four of the Letters by Thomas Jefferson regarding America’s quest for Independence. Immediately following this very special concert, we will celebrate Mass at 4:00 pm with Patriotic Hymns and anthems. These events are free, and the public is warmly invited to attend. Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Cathedral will offer their annual “Christmas Concert” on Sunday afternoon – December 17th at 4:00 p.m. presented by the Music Ministry’s Community Choral Society – “Gloria In Excelsis” and the “Mobile Vocal Arts” Choral Society. The program features both sacred and secular popular selections with new and original approaches. Additionally, the audience will be invited to share in the singing of various Christmas Carols/Songs. The concert is free and open to the public.
On Thursday, December 21st from 7-8 p.m. – the Music & Fine Arts Ministry of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Cathedral will offer “Caroling on Cathedral Square.” All are invited to come to the front of the Cathedral and Rectory –and we will have this large space to join together in singing Christmas Carols and other Christmas music selections. The Nativity BVM Cathedral Men’s Club will have hot chocolate, cookies, and electric candles to offer the carolers for a donation. Come – join in this annual holiday tradition at the Cathedral! The Music and Fine Arts Ministry of Nativity BVM Cathedral announces the beginning of the Sixth Season of their Community Chorale: “Gloria In Excelsis.” The Community Choir program is open to any interested singer in the Dioceses of Biloxi and the Greater Gulf Coast Area. The Chorale will begin its sixth season on Tuesday, August 8th at 6:45 pm in the Youth Ministry Hall of the Sacred Heart Academy Center directly behind the Cathedral. Plans for the 2023-2024 Season include: John Rutter’s “Requiem”, the annual Advent Concert-Service, the annual Christmas Concert, John Stainer’s “Crucifixion”, the annual Patriotic Concert and Randal Thompson’s “Testament of Freedom”. The Music & Fine Arts Ministry of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Cathedral invites any member as well as friends in our Diocese that would like to sing in a “Pick-Up” Choir for our Diocese’ celebration of the “Chrism Mass” to come join us. The warm-up rehearsal for this Choir for this mass will be on Tuesday morning, April 4th at 9:15 am. We will warm-up on the stage in the Great Hall of the Sacred Heart Academy Center. This is the building directly behind the Cathedral. The Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am by our Bishop and the Diocese Priests. As in the past, each of us will be asked to join together in the spirit of stewardship by making a financial commitment to the Church in the Diocese of Biloxi. Our Catholic Sharing Appeal provides essential operating support for those offices that provide direct services to both this parish and thousands of people throughout the seventeen counties that comprise this diocese.
