The Music and Fine Arts Ministry of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Cathedral continues their 2024 Concert Season offerings by welcoming the University of Southern Mississippi’s Gulf Coast Civic Chorale with their annual “Holiday Concert. ” Under the direction of Dr. Jonathan Kilgore – Director of Choral Activities - the Chorale will showcase a variety of classical and holiday choral favorites in a concert being presented this Sunday at the Cathedral at 870 Howard Avenue in downtown Biloxi. Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Cathedral will present a special, liturgical concert-service entitled: “Advent Lessons and Musical Reflections” on Saturday, December 7th at 3:00 p.m. in the afternoon. Fashioned after the traditional Christmas: “Lessons and Carols”, this unique scripture and music program illuminates the meaning and depth of the Advent Season of prophecy, expectation and hope as reflected through images of the prophets and the Angel Gabriel. This offering is a part of the Music and Fine Arts Ministry of the Cathedral and is presented by the Community Choirs of “Gloria In Excelsis” and “Mobile Vocal Arts”. On Thursday, December 19TH from 7-8:30 p.m. – the Music & Fine Arts Ministry of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Cathedral will offer “Caroling on Cathedral Square.” All are invited to come to the front of the Cathedral and Rectory – located at 870 Howard Avenue and we will have this large space to join together in singing Christmas Carols and other Christmas music favorites. The Nativity BVM Cathedral Men’s Club will have hot chocolate, cookies, and electric candles to offer the carolers for a donation. Come – join in this annual holiday tradition at the Cathedral! Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Cathedral will offer their annual “Christmas Concert” on Sunday afternoon – December 22ND at 4:00 p.m. The program features both sacred and secular popular choral selections with new and original approaches presented by the “Mobile Vocal Arts” of mobile, Alabama and the Cathedral’s Choral Society – “Gloria In Excelsis” . Congregational caroling will be offered along with instrumental works and music selections by the Cathedral’s new Handbell Choir – Sacred Tones. The concert is free and open to the public.
